CAMPMASTER CORPS at Alpine Scout Camp

The campmaster corps is a group of selected and trained individuals who serve at council weekend camps whenever troops, teams, Webelos dens, or posts are using any part of the camp property. Campmasters select their own time and frequency of service, but a minimum of six times a year is requested. The group is organized under the leadership of the council camping committee. The Campmaster corps generally meets once a quarter to evaluate programming, maintenance, and service needs, scheduling, and training of any new members.

Campmasters are selected on the basis of their ability in several areas: outdoor skills, maintenance or trade skills, knowledge of nature and conservation, range operations, and service to others . All campmasters must have a record of demonstrated ability to get along with people, to lead, and to act in an emergency.

The Campmaster Corps consists of three subgroups:
-Facilities and Maintenance
-Program Delivery
-Commissioner Service

Responsibilities may include:
• provide a central point of contact for visitors
• emergency contact
• checking in/checking out
• issuing of equipment
• orienting units to camp and facilities
• opening/closing of event areas
• ensure needs of units are met
• coordinate among units to share resources
• ensure all safety standards are met according to Camp Policy Manual
• assist in protection of camp property
• work closely with the camp ranger, assisting or leading maintenance tasks or projects
• complete a short report of units attending, resources used, and problems
